The Internal Series

An audio visual collaboration exploring sound, movement, photography and design.

The Internal Series is a three part audiovisual work produced by Alice Presencer and I during the Pandemic and is based on the many inner stages of the self and the unknown. We have adapted this series into a further four part multi disciplinary work which takes the audience on a journey through movement, sound, installations and film.

We communicated remotely from our respective bases in India, Austria/Ireland and Denmark.

The Internal Series: Part I – Monotony

Experimentation with mundane, household objects, wires and plugs, textures and cloth to disconnect from the Pandemic and find solace in monotonous practices.

Part I - Monotony, Part II - Overload, Part III - Reverie (in progress)

Monotony – the first part of this audiovisual series depicting the repetitive, almost comforting nature of mundane tasks. Shot in an apartment in Copenhagen when Alice and I were socially distancing in 2020.

Overload – the second part of ‘The Internal Series’ audiovisual work reflects the bombardment of information from daily news updates, media outlets and our own internal conversations.

Thinking differently about how sound is produced when other elements are added such as movement, light and texture has led to experimentation with the traditional format of violin performance. Danish dancer, Alice Presencer and I have played with the combination of sound and movement as one entity in this series.

Part II - Overload

As part of the live performances, Alice and I have collaborated with the Danish-based designer, Zuri Zarina who has created unique pieces for this series.

Part III – Reverie

The final part of this series, Reverie represents eternal hope, playfulness and a release into the unknown, post Pandemic. We worked with visual artist, Farheen Fatima to represent a lost era of beauty, a timelessness, through post editing drawings.
